It's very simple to ping your blog or ping a page, you simply need to use a service that will do it for you or set it up into the "writing" settings section of your Wordpress blog to do it automatically. Let's look at some of services that you can use, some I have listed here are for free.
PingoMatic is perhaps one of the most popular free pinging services. You enter the name of your blog/website, the page that you want to ping and your RSS feed which is optional. You select the services and press the send ping button.
Ping Device, is another free pinging service. Easy and simple to use.
Pingoat, is another service that pings or notifies a number of services that keep track of weblogs and publish them. Its similar to PingoMatic.
FeedShark, Feed Shark is another free online tool that simply promotes your blogpost or website - with the simple push of the mouse! Feed Shark pings a number of services to notify the planet that your blog, website, RSS feed, or podcast has recently been updated or created! You do have to add a bit of code to your website for this service to operate.
Pingler is a paid for service. However, they do have a free service which can be used.

Again, If you have a Word press site and you want to ping the services each time you publish your site content you can either use these free services or go to the writing settings area of your Word press admin dashboard and enable the XML-RPC settings. Make sure to copy the list provided by Wordpress back into your "Update Services" area and save.
